Amelia Augustyn (born in 1989) lives and creates in Częstochowa, where she graduated with distinction in Painting from the Jan Długosz University (currently the University of Humanities and Natural Sciences) in the studio of Dr. habil., Prof. UJD Włodzimierz Kulej and Dariusz Słota (drawing annex). Since 2016, she has been a member of the Association of Polish Visual Artists of the Częstochowa District. She works using: oils, acrylics, watercolors, and mixed media. “Ribbon” is an abstract piece with a free, distinctly dynamic form. The work fully reflects her current artistic direction. Recent paintings focus on the interplay of color and movement, creating compositions with strong expression. “Ribbon” references the 20th-century movement of non-geometric abstract art; Tachisme, whose most well-known representative in Poland is Tadeusz Kantor. Small formats are most often intended for intimate spaces, which positively influences the reception of the artwork. The advantage of small paintings is their great versatility in arrangement. In more spacious interiors, it is worth considering a home gallery consisting of several works or choosing multi-element compositions, e.g., a triptych. “Ribbon” was painted on a lightweight, canvas (cotton) panel (height 30 cm, width 25 cm, depth 1.5 cm). It employs mixed media techniques (acrylic paints and enamels). In the lower left corner, there is a clear signature: A. Augustyn. The painting was created in 2019. Its edges are aesthetically covered with black paint, so framing is not necessary.
