The rulers of the Roman kingdom were sequentially: Romulus, Numa Pompilius, Tullus Hostilius, Ancus Marcius, Tarquin the Elder, Servius Tullius, Tarquin the Proud.

Pompilius established Roman laws, Hostilius defeated the Albans and incorporated the Celius Hill into the Roman kingdom, Marcius is known for building the first bridge over the Tiber and founding the port of Ostia and defeating the Sabines, Tarquin the Elder established the games, Tullius was the first to organize a census of Rome’s population, and Tarquin the Proud defeated the Volsci and made peace with the Etruscans.

The period of the monarchy in the history of ancient Rome lasted from the founding of the city by Romulus in 753 BC until the overthrow of the monarchy and the establishment of the Republic by Lucius Junius Brutus in 509 BC.
