iMuranesi is a unique venture born from the imagination of Giampaolo Barbiní. This man contributed to it the legacy of one of the most renowned Venetian glassmaking families.
iMuranesi models are one of a kind thanks to the combination of many equally important elements. These include the harmony of detail, the use of modern manufacturing methods, sophisticated and bold design, and strong interaction between top designers and glassmakers.
Today, it is a popular international company that combines modernity with traditional glassmaking values.
However, behind this modern project lies a tradition dating back to medieval times. Back then, the authorities of the Venetian Republic decided to concentrate all glassmakers in one place. To this day, its name is known worldwide, and the glass originating from there is breathtaking.
The Barbiní clan is one of the respected medieval families. These glassmakers have left their mark on Venice since the second half of the 16th century.
In 1658, by order of the Consiglio dei Dieci council, the Barbiní clan was included in the Golden Book of Venetian Society’s Notable Figures, in other words, among the most distinguished glassmakers in Venice.
Additionally, the family was granted a coat of arms – depicting two bearded wise men facing each other with a star between them on a blue background – which can still be admired at the Murano Glass Museum.
