Contrary to this trend, the philosophy of Berti Knives is to produce exclusive knives for various uses. Founded in 1895 by David Berti, the family workshop appears to be entirely independent of the trends that have taken place worldwide over the years. Its most important value is loyalty to tradition, which is still cultivated by the fourth generation of these Italian artisans.
The owners firmly oppose the idea of mass production by unskilled labor, which they believe would lead to a loss of identity of the products. Therefore, their company's philosophy emphasizes careful employment of personnel. This does not mean, however, that this Italian family is closed to new ideas. Innovations are very welcome, provided they do not conflict with the existing vision and can meet long-term quality standards.
Unlike competitors, the various stages of knife production are not handled by specialized sections of workers, but are performed from start to finish by the same person. Thanks to this practice, each blade is completely unique.
The highest quality materials are used in production — blades are made of steel, and handles are crafted from materials such as buffalo horn, bison horn, deer antler, or 'bosso' wood.
The owners encourage that their knives, although intended for everyday use, be treated with respect, which guarantees their durability for many years. Each one is a small, unique artifact.
