Description

G. Marini Still Life with a Flower Vase

Oil painting on wood in a modern frame. The artwork depicts a vibrant composition of red, white, and yellow dahlias in a light blue ceramic vase signed G.Marini in the lower left corner. It is in good condition and requires no conservation.

In this early work, painter Giovanni Marini from Bergamo (1887-1973), educated at the Carrara Academy, diverges from the symbolic artistic line that would characterize his later production. It is still a fresh, lively, and decorative painting, featuring an absolutely free compositional arrangement of a bouquet of dahlias gathered in a vase and placed on a table.

Exclusive antique furniture and accessories can be an excellent idea for interior decoration. Currently, there is a growing number of enthusiasts of high-quality vintage items that possess a distinct character and soul. This is a nod to history, craftsmanship, and the design of classic and timeless furniture. There are many different styles in antique furniture, each with its own distinctive features.

Many styles characterize antique furniture, but a few are particularly notable. Eclectic furniture originates from the 19th century, during the reign of the Biedermeier style. Its early variations include neo-Gothic, Gothic, Rococo, Louis Philippe style, and finally the Victorian style. By the end of the century, these styles evolved into pseudo-classicism, Renaissance, and Baroque styles.

Empire-style furniture dates from the late 18th to early 19th centuries. It was influenced by Napoleon’s reign, emphasizing similarities to Roman and Greek decorative motifs.

Neoclassical furniture reflects the Louis XVI style, which also draws heavily from ancient architecture. Noteworthy are antique products in Rococo and Louis XV styles. Next is Baroque, a term derived from the Portuguese 'barocco', meaning an irregularly developed pearl. These were highly ornate, luxurious pieces designed to impress with their splendor and play a significant role in opulence. Materials were selectively chosen to accentuate the grandeur of these items.

Today, we can observe how much the Baroque style influenced modern classical furniture, which is often designed with a strong resemblance to the historical period. An important style is also Renaissance, which flourished in the 15th and 16th centuries and left a significant mark on furniture design. Renaissance furniture was quite heavy and massive. It featured brown stains, moldings, sturdy bases, and relief decorations. These were quite distinctive products, offering new possibilities such as the construction of credenzas and broadly speaking, chest-type furniture. The Renaissance also drew inspiration from mythology and ancient times, with supports and legs often taking animal forms.

Lion paws, eagle heads—these are common motifs in Renaissance style. Currently, many global brands reproduce furniture inspired by Italian and French artisans, showcasing admiration and respect for the history of the most beautiful Renaissance antiques. It’s important to remember that furniture production was perceived differently across countries, and each style had its unique character. This is especially crucial when searching for an exclusive antique that suits your interior.

The key aspect of prestigious antique furniture is originality. This is ultimately important for buyers, as the market is flooded with counterfeits. Luxury Products provides documentation confirming the authenticity of each item, matching the description and photographs. We also have access to art appraisers, historians, and experts from around the world.
