Backgammon has been known since medieval times. It was played both in Europe and Asia. Today, it remains a game strongly associated with the regions of Georgia, Turkey, and Bulgaria. Designed for two players, it is a great alternative to chess.



Backgammon and Dominoes


It has a history as long as the aforementioned backgammon. However, unlike backgammon, dominoes can be played by two, three, or four people. It originates from Asia, and its modified version was popular in China under the name "kwat pai".


The oldest set of dominoes was found in the tomb of Pharaoh Tutankhamun in Thebes, although some researchers believe that the game, now known even to children, in its current form, was created much later, in China in the 12th century. The game reached Europe thanks to the traveler, Marco Polo, and gained popularity in the 18th century. There are several variations of dominoes: besides the classic version, you can play in the Matador, Muggins, Bergen, or Sevastopol systems. Those who are reluctant to play with others can engage in the Dominoes puzzle, for a single player.
