1. Y/Project was founded in 2010 in Paris. Its founders were Yohan Serfaty and Gilles Elalouf. The former was a designer who enjoyed playing with fashion, proportions, form, and the interpretation of masculinity and femininity, which led to the creation of unique garments. His collections featured elongated silhouettes, strong, often dark aesthetic references, and a distinctive style. Elalouf was responsible for management, strategy, and finance. Three years after founding the company, in 2013, Serfaty passed away, and his place was taken by Glenn Martens. He gave the brand its recognizable current style: experimental forms, layered designs, playful proportions, and oversized. His contribution to the brand’s development was truly significant. In 2024, the second founder, Elalouf, also passed away, and Martens left the company as well.
