A pair of 18th century Italian biblical paintings Esther before Ahasuerus

From Central Italy, a pair of oil paintings on canvas depicting biblical scenes of Esther and King Ahasuerus, dating from the late 18th century, Italian school, circa 1780, in good age-related condition, framed in painted and silvered antique frames.

According to the Hebrew Bible, Esther was a Jewish queen of the Persian king Ahasuerus, and this painting shows her kneeling before Ahasuerus to beg for the salvation of her people.

This magnificent work, of Italian origin, was hung in a private palace in Milan.

Both canvases of this Italian pair of antique paintings were relined and restored thirty years ago.
